Paul Shonnard: A Professional Journey in Orthopedics

Paul Shonnard is a highly skilled and experienced orthopedic surgeon born and raised in Nevada. He comes from a family of three generations of healthcare providers and specializes in shoulder, hip, and knee arthroscopy, joint reconstruction, and traumatic injuries. He has had the privilege of traveling and obtaining education from various parts of the country, including San Francisco and New York City, where he completed his training at the Hospital for Special Surgery, which is typically ranked number one in Orthopedics in the country.

In addition to his academic pursuits, he has been designated Master Instructor of Hip Arthroscopy at the National Arthroscopy Association of North America instructional center in Chicago and has lectured at national and international symposiums associated with the National Society of Arthroscopy Association of North America for many years. He has also published multiple national articles and book chapters.

Paul is heavily involved in teaching, research, and education in general. He is currently an associate clinical professor at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, where he is actively involved in the University School of Medicine. He has also been a past team doctor for the University athletics and is currently a board member of the advisory board for the College of Sciences at UNR.

Paul founded Nevada Orthopedics to provide the most advanced and cutting-edge orthopedic care available in Northern Nevada with concierge office service without the concierge price. He has been at the forefront of introducing new techniques and technologies to the Reno region throughout his career. He brought hip arthroscopy techniques and Minimally Invasive joint replacement to the region in 2003 and 2004, and he has been doing outpatient and short-stay arthroplasties since 2006.

Despite his busy schedule, Paul has always maintained an active lifestyle, particularly in the mountains of Nevada. Paul is not just a talented orthopedic surgeon but also a dedicated husband, father, and member of a large extended family based primarily in Reno. He takes pride in providing exceptional care to his patients and is committed to making a positive impact on the community.
